Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a senior Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in nuclear power plant engineering to lead uprate projects. You will develop licensing basis evaluations, perform heat balance calculations, and mentor junior staff while interfacing with clients.

This role features a hybrid work model (3 days in the office, 2 remote) in Tennessee. Candidates should have a BS(MSE) from ABET-accredited program, 10+ years in nuclear power, and experience with uprates or turbine

Qualifications

• BSME from ABET-accredited program with emphasis in thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics.
• 10+ years in the nuclear power industry.
• Experience with nuclear power uprates and turbine retrofit projects.
• Strong knowledge of balance of plant systems, heat balance and power train components.
• Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead licensing basis system and component evaluations for nuclear power uprate projects.
• Prepare and review heat balances, power train pumps, heat exchangers and related calculations.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers on power plant engineering tasks.
• Interface with clients and project teams to present technical discussions and status.
• Develop engineering proposals and cost estimates.
• Attend client meetings and site walkdowns to validate scope.
