Job summary

AbbVie Inc. is seeking a Lead, Publications to direct a team responsible for execution of publication plans across assigned assets.

You will ensure alignment with strategic publication goals and oversee staff, timelines, and budgets to deliver high-quality clinical manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and oral presentations. The role requires strong leadership, deep knowledge of medical publications, and the ability to partner with global stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required; PhD/PharmD/Master’s preferred; professional certification (CMPP/AMWA) a plus.
• 4-5 years medical/scientific publications experience; pharma industry or medical communications agency background.
• Leadership experience required with proven ability to manage staff and resources.
• Strong understanding of medical data, publication structures, and regulatory guidelines.
• Excellent written and verbal communications with track record of executive-level presentations.
• Ability to build cross-functional teams and collaborate with global stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet navigation.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of publication managers and oversee performance and development.
• Coordinate with Directors to align publication plans with strategic objectives.
• Oversee tactical execution of publication plans within timelines and budgets.
• Review publications for quality and regulatory compliance.
• Manage outsourcing budgets and internal resource needs for assets.
• Provide direction to internal/external writers and vendors for timely deliverables.
• Ensure accurate publication records and resourcing tools.
