Job summary

AbbVie Inc. is seeking a Lead Publications professional to guide a team of publication managers and ensure the execution of high-quality scientific publications for assigned assets.

You will align publication plans with strategic objectives and oversee staffing, coaching, and resource allocation. You will partner with directors to manage outsourcing budgets and coordinate cross-functional efforts, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with publication policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• PhD, PharmD, Master’s Degree preferred.
• Relevant professional certification/credential (e.g., CMPP, AMWA) is a plus.
• 4-5 years of medical/scientific publications experience required.
• Pharmaceutical industry or related experience required.
• Demonstrated leadership capacity required.
• Knowledge of medical data and publication structures.
• Excellent communication skills with senior audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of publication managers reporting to the Publications Director.
• Provide coaching, priorities, and performance feedback; manage talent retention.
• Oversee cross-functional Publications Team(s) and input from global stakeholders.
• Drive tactical execution of publication plans within timelines and budgets.
• Review publications for quality and alignment with platforms and policies.
• Manage outsourcing budget and internal resources for assets.
• Direct external vendors to deliver quality publications on time.
