Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a senior Publications leader to guide cross-functional teams in developing and executing publication plans for assigned assets. You will oversee manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and presentations to meet strategic objectives and ensure high-quality scientific communications.

You will partner with directors to align resources, manage budgets, and mentor internal and external writers, ensuring timely, compliant deliverables across therapeutic areas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced degrees/certifications (PhD, PharmD, Master’s) preferred.
• 4–5 years of medical/scientific publications experience in pharma or medical communications.
• Proven leadership abilities and cross-functional teamwork.
• Strong understanding of medical data interpretation and publication standards.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to present to senior audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional Publications Team(s) for assigned assets; drive execution of publication plans.
• Oversee tactical publication activities: manuscripts, abstracts, posters, oral presentations.
• Ensure alignment of Publication Plans with strategic goals and with Scientific Platforms.
• Provide managerial oversight to staff, including performance feedback and talent retention.
• Manage outsourcing budgets and internal resources for publications Projects.
