Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior II Site Reliability Engineer - Network to join our global team.

You will partner with software development, operations, and network teams to ensure high availability and scalable network infrastructure across Akamai Connected Cloud. You will help define requirements, build automation pipelines, and set SLOs while mentoring peers and championing robust design choices.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience and a Bachelor's diploma in Computer Science or its equivalent.
• Experience in a Site or Network Reliability Engineering, Network Engineering, Software Engineering, or DevOps role working with large-scale distributed systems.
• Advanced proficiency with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Salt Stack, Chef, Puppet, or similar.
• Experience with Linux networking at the userspace level and open source networking software such as FRR, Bird, or goBGP.
• Understanding of networking such as TCP/IP, OSI model, and Cisco or Juniper routers and switches.
• Experience developing applications, contributing to codebases, conducting code review, and writing scripts using languages such as Python, Bash, or Go.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Github Actions, ArgoCD, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Partner across teams to ensure reliability, scalability and usability of network infrastructure, products, and services.
• Defining requirements as part of the product lifecycle to influence new designs and standards.
• Developing automation pipelines to support development, testing, and deployment workflows.
• Defining SLOs for network infrastructure within the Akamai Connected Cloud to ensure high availability and performance.
• Working with Dev and Quality Assurance teams to create more robust solutions, code improvement and stability.
• Mentor team members, driving code quality standards and providing architectural thought leadership.
