Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior II Site Reliability Engineer - Network to join our global team building and maintaining reliable network infrastructure for Akamai Connected Cloud.

You will collaborate with software development, operations, and network teams to define designs and standards and drive automation across the life cycle. You will mentor others, set SLOs, and help craft scalable solutions for high availability.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience and a Bachelor's diploma in Computer Science or its equivalent
• Have experience in a Site or Network Reliability Engineering, Network Engineering, Software Engineering, or DevOps role working with large-scale distributed systems
• Have advanced proficiency with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Salt Stack, Chef, Puppet, or similar
• Have experience with Linux networking at the userspace level and open source networking software such as FRR, Bird, or goBGP
• Have an understanding of networking such as TCP/IP, OSI model, and Cisco or Juniper routers and switches
• Have experience developing applications, contributing to codebases, conducting code review, and writing scripts using languages such as Python, Bash, or Go
• Have experience with continuous integration / continuous deployment tools such as Jenkins, Github Actions, ArgoCD, or similar

Responsibilities

• Partner across teams to ensure the reliability, scalability and usability of our network infrastructure, products, and services
• Defining requirements as part of the product lifecycle to influence new designs and standards
• Developing automation pipelines to support development, testing, and deployment workflows
• Defining SLOs for network infrastructure within the Akamai Connected Cloud to ensure high availability and performance
• Working with Dev and Quality Assurance teams to create more robust solutions, code improvement and stability
• Serving as a mentor to team members, driving code quality standards and providing thought leadership on architectural decisions
