Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior II Site Reliability Engineer - Network to drive reliability, scalability, and performance of our global network infrastructure. You will partner with software, operations, and network teams to define standards and build automation that supports Akamai Connected Cloud.

The role requires strong hands-on engineering, mentoring, and design influence across the lifecycle, with experience in large-scale distributed systems and modern CI/CD practices.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in SRE/Network/DevOps roles.
• Experience with large-scale distributed systems.
• Proficiency with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Salt Stack, Chef, Puppet, or similar.
• Experience with Linux networking and open source networking software such as FRR, Bird, or goBGP.
• Understanding of TCP/IP, OSI model, and Cisco/Juniper routing.
• Experience developing applications and scripting in Python, Bash, or Go.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Github Actions, ArgoCD, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Partner across teams to ensure the reliability, scalability and usability of our network infrastructure, products, and services.
• Define requirements to influence new designs and standards.
• Develop automation pipelines for development, testing, and deployment workflows.
• Define SLOs for network infrastructure within Akamai Connected Cloud for high availability and performance.
• Collaborate with Dev and QA teams to improve code quality and stability.
• Mentor team members and drive code quality and architectural decisions.
