Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. seeks a Senior II Site Reliability Engineer - Network to drive reliability and scalability of our global network infrastructure and services. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape designs, standards, and tooling across Akamai Connected Cloud.

You will define SLOs, build automation pipelines, and mentor engineers to elevate code quality, reliability, and performance. Strong distributed systems experience and expert networking knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Site Reliability, Network Reliability, Software Engineering, or DevOps with large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Salt Stack, Chef, Puppet or similar.
• Experience with Linux networking at the userspace level and open source networking software such as FRR, Bird, or goBGP.
• Understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, OSI, Cisco/Juniper routers and switches).
• Experience developing applications, contributing to codebases, conducting code reviews, and writing scripts in Python, Bash, or Go.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Github Actions, ArgoCD, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Partner across teams to ensure reliability, scalability and usability of network infrastructure, products, and services.
• Define requirements as part of the product lifecycle to influence designs and standards.
• Develop automation pipelines to support development, testing, and deployment workflows.
• Define SLOs for network infrastructure within Akamai Connected Cloud for high availability and performance.
• Collaborate with Dev and QA teams to improve code quality and stability.
• Mentor team members and drive code quality standards and architectural decisions.
