Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior II Site Reliability Engineer - Network to help ensure reliability and performance of our global network infrastructure and services. You will collaborate with software, operations, and network teams to define standards and build scalable tooling.

You will develop automation, participate in design decisions, and mentor peers while ensuring high availability of Akamai Connected Cloud network assets.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience and a Bachelor's diploma in Computer Science or its equivalent.
• Experience in a Site or Network Reliability Engineering, Network Engineering, Software Engineering, or DevOps role with large-scale distributed systems.
• Advanced proficiency with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Salt Stack, Chef, Puppet, or similar.
• Experience with Linux networking and open source networking software such as FRR, Bird, or goBGP.
• Understanding of networking such as TCP/IP, OSI model, and Cisco/Juniper routers and switches.
• Experience developing applications and scripting in Python, Bash, or Go.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Github Actions, ArgoCD, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Partner across teams to ensure reliability, scalability and usability of network infrastructure, products, and services.
• Define requirements as part of the product lifecycle to influence new designs and standards.
• Develop automation pipelines to support development, testing, and deployment workflows.
• Define SLOs for network infrastructure within Akamai Connected Cloud to ensure high availability and performance.
• Collaborate with Development and QA teams to improve code quality and stability.
• Mentor team members and drive code quality standards and architectural decisions.
