Job summary

Cox Fleet is hiring a Mobile Diesel & Trailer Technician to perform licensed DOT inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs in a mobile/field setting. You’ll diagnose engines, electrical, brakes, and trailer systems while documenting work on an iOS device using TRAIT.

The role requires 21+ with a HS diploma, ASE T8 certification within 18 months, and a valid driver’s license. We offer strong benefits and a clear career path within a national service network.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; 3 years in related field; or 5 years in related field.
• Own set of hand tools necessary to perform duties.
• ASE certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.
• DOT/FMCSA pre-employment background check and a DOT physical.
• Must be 21+ years old due to interstate operations.
• Valid state driver’s license; may require Driver Qualification File.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs in mobile/field environment.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, braking, cooling, engine, and transmission systems on trucks.
• Inspect and service trailer equipment; handle welding and fabrication as needed.
• Operate handheld devices and TRAIT app; document RO findings and parts used.
• Obtain parts from approved vendors; communicate repairs and estimates to management.
• Adhere to safety policies, OSHA/EPA/DOT regulations, and company standards.
