Job summary

Jabil in Prince George, Virginia seeks a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer – LV Switchgear to act as the senior technical authority for mechanical architecture, design governance, validation strategy, and lifecycle support of low‑voltage switchgear products.

You will partner with customers, global engineering teams, manufacturing, sourcing, quality, regulatory, suppliers, and field support to ensure safety, quality, cost targets, and lifecycle processes are met from concept through production

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 12+ years of mechanical engineering experience including LV switchgear experience.
• Senior technical leadership across multiple NPIs or product launches.
• Advanced CAD proficiency with Creo, SolidWorks, Inventor or equivalent.
• Knowledge of UL/IEC standards and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with FEA/CFD, thermal validation, and design for manufacturability.

Responsibilities

• Own the mechanical architecture strategy for LV switchgear and power distribution equipment.
• Translate requirements into scalable engineering specifications and roadmaps.
• Lead system-level mechanical architecture decisions for enclosures, busbar supports, and safety features.
• Oversee mechanical validation, testing, and qualification programs across programs.
• Guide concept development, prototypes, and production releases across global sites.
• Mentor engineers and develop reusable standards and design guides.
