Jabil is seeking a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer for Low Voltage (LV) switchgear in Prince George, Virginia. You will serve as the senior technical authority for mechanical architecture, design governance, validation strategy, and lifecycle support across multiple programs.

The role focuses on cross-functional leadership with customers, global teams, manufacturing, sourcing, and quality to ensure safety, reliability, and cost targets throughout concept to production release.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field is required.
• 12+ years of mechanical engineering experience in LV switchgear, switchboards, MCCs, or power distribution products.
• Advanced CAD proficiency with Creo, SolidWorks, Inventor, or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of sheet metal design, busbar systems, structural assemblies, insulation interfaces, and standards.

Responsibilities

• Own and govern the mechanical architecture strategy for LV switchgear and power distribution equipment.
• Translate requirements into scalable engineering specifications and roadmaps.
• Lead system-level mechanical architecture decisions for enclosure systems and related hardware.
• Define mechanical design criteria for structural integrity, GD&T, and manufacturing readiness.
• Drive design for manufacturability, cost, and reliability across programs.
• Mentor engineers and develop reusable standards and templates.
