Job summary

Jabil is seeking a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer for Low Voltage Switchgear in Prince George, VA. You will lead the mechanical design, validation, and lifecycle support of LV switchgear and power distribution products, interfacing with customers and global teams.

You will drive DFx initiatives, oversee qualification testing, and ensure compliance with relevant UL/IEC/NEMA standards. Travel up to 20% is expected, with a strong emphasis on manufacturability, cost targets, and timely product

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience, including 5+ years in LV switchgear or power distribution.
• Experience leading NPI from concept to production release.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical design and architecture of LV switchgear, switchboards, MCCs, and power distribution equipment.
• Translate customer requirements into engineering specifications and design deliverables.
• Lead enclosure systems, busbar support, insulation interfaces, and safety-focused mechanical design.
• Lead thermal engineering activities, including airflow design, CFD modeling, and thermal validation.
• Drive concept development, prototypes, and production release activities.
• Lead design transfer and manufacturing readiness reviews across global sites.
• Ensure compliance with UL 891, UL 1558, NEC, IEC 61439, NEMA, and IEEE standards.
