Job summary

RTX, in Tucson, AZ, is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer for the Air Launched Effectors program. The role is onsite and requires active U.S.

security clearance as a condition of start. You will own mechanical design tasks, collaborate with suppliers, and mentor junior engineers across multiple teams. Responsibilities include development and documentation of hardware subsystems, process improvements with DFMA, and supporting production and first article inspections.

Qualifications

• Degree in STEM with five years of relevant experience, or an advanced engineering degree with at least three years.
• Experience in ANSI/ASME Y14.5 GD&T and tolerance analysis.
• Experience in CREO (Pro/E) or similar 3D solid modeling software.

Responsibilities

• Technical ownership and execution of tasks as a prime technical contact for mechanical subsystems.
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams and suppliers to document the TDP and verify requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers within the mechanical discipline.
• Lead small teams and coordinate across functions such as supply chain, operations, quality, and systems.
• Perform mechanical design, development, and documentation of components and sub-assemblies.
• Coordinate with factories and suppliers for new product integration and process improvements.
• Perform tolerance analyses to ensure form, fit, and function as designed.
• Improve designs using DFMA and Design for Producibility principles.
• Support production and first article inspections of hardware.
• Review manufacturing instructions and MRB dispositions.
• Root cause investigations on production hardware issues.
