Job summary

RTX is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer for the Air Launched Effectors program at the Tucson, AZ site. This onsite role focuses on mechanical design, development, and production support across subsystems with responsibilities from concept to first article inspections.

You will collaborate with factories and suppliers, mentor junior engineers, perform tolerance analyses, apply DFMA/Producibility principles, and support manufacturing processes in a fast-paced defense environment.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree with 5+ years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 3+ years.
• Experience in ANSI/ASME Y14.5 GD&T and tolerance analysis.
• Experience with CREO (Pro/E) or similar 3D solid modelling software.

Responsibilities

• Own and execute mechanical design tasks for subsystems across the program.
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams and suppliers to develop TDP and verify requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers within the mechanical discipline.
• Lead small teams for major hardware subsystems; coordinate with multiple functions.
• Design, develop, and document components and assemblies for defense equipment.
• Coordinate with Raytheon factories and suppliers for new product integration.
• Perform tolerance analyses to ensure form, fit, and function as designed.
• Improve designs using DFMA and producibility principles.
• Support production and first article inspections at internal facilities.
• Review manufacturing instructions and support MRB dispositions.
• Conduct root cause investigations on production hardware issues.
