RTX in Tucson, AZ is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer for the Air Launched Effectors group. The role is onsite and requires a security clearance, with responsibilities spanning design, development, and production support of mechanical subsystems for defense equipment.

You will lead technical work, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with factories and suppliers to ensure robust product realization and continual improvement in DFMA practices.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in STEM and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 3+ years of experience.
• Experience in ANSI/ASME Y14.5 GD&T and tolerance analysis.
• Experience in CREO (Pro/E) or similar 3D solid modeling software.

Responsabilités

• Technical ownership and execution of tasks, acting as a prime technical contact for mechanical sub-systems.
• Analyze, model, and document design data packages and ensure compliance with requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead small teams across cross-functional functions.
• Perform mechanical design, development, and documentation of components and assemblies for defense systems.
• Collaborate with factories and suppliers on product integration and process improvements.
• Perform tolerance analyses to ensure fit and function.
• Apply DFMA/Design for Producibility principles to improve designs.
• Support production builds and first article inspections.
• Review manufacturing instructions and assist with disposition decisions.
• Perform root cause investigations on hardware production issues.
