Job summary

RTX is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer for the Air Launched Effectors group in Tucson, AZ. The role focuses on mechanical design, development, and production support across the defense system hardware lifecycle.

You'll own technical tasks, mentor junior engineers, coordinate with suppliers, perform tolerance analyses, and drive DFMA/Design for Manufacturability improvements in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Requires STEM degree with 5+ years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 3 years experience.
• Experience in ANSI/ASME Y14.5 GD&T and tolerance analysis.
• Experience in CREO (Pro/E) or similar 3D solid modeling software.

Responsibilities

• Technical ownership and execution of tasks for mechanical sub-systems, including design, production sustainment, and testing.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers to analyze, model, and document the design technical data package (TDP).
• Mentor junior engineers and lead small teams across multiple functions and disciplines.
• Lead mechanical design, development, and documentation of components, sub-assemblies, and major end items for defense systems.
• Perform tolerance analyses to ensure form, fit, and function align with design intent.
• Drive DFMA/Design for Producibility improvements in new and existing designs.
