Job summary

EY’s Challenger program is seeking a senior architect to shape knowledge, retrieval, and grounding for enterprise AI products. You will lead architecture decisions, design federated organizational memory, and translate business questions into actionable AI concepts across domains.

This role requires strong data engineering depth, policy‑aware thinking, and cross‑functional leadership. Expect up to 50% travel with hybrid office work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field of study.
• 9-12+ years of relevant experience.
• Substantial experience in data, information, solution, or platform architecture, including ownership of production AI, search, or knowledge systems.
• A record of delivering a shared knowledge, search, graph, or grounded‑AI capability across varied sources and organizational boundaries.
• Practical fluency with semantic, graph, or retrieval technologies, strong SQL, and a general‑purpose programming language.
• Experience designing pipelines that connect analytical, document, event, and operational information with clear production controls.
• Evidence of implementing access, provenance, quality, and lifecycle controls through the production retrieval path.
• Cross‑functional leadership with ability to influence and mentor.
• Up to 50% travel and hybrid office requirement.

Responsibilities

• Set the knowledge direction. Own the target architecture, roadmap, and decision principles for knowledge, retrieval, and grounding for AI products and agents.
• Design organizational memory with a federated approach and clear lifecycle expectations.
• Translate business questions with domain experts to define concepts, relationships, and boundaries for AI systems.
• Engineer trusted ingestion by shaping reusable patterns and preserving authority, lineage, and uncertainty.
• Build effective retrieval by combining search, semantic, graph, and structured methods and showing trade‑offs.
• Make evidence inspectable by including citations, provenance, quality signals, and evaluation hooks.
• Embed policy in the path by coordinating with security, privacy, records, and legal teams.
• Prove the architecture through lighthouse implementations from prototype to production.
• Operate and improve by defining service objectives, observability, incidents, and quality measures.
• Build shared capability with reference components and mentorship to engineers and stewards.
