Job summary

Jabil in Prince George, VA seeks a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer for LV switchgear to own mechanical architecture from concept to production release. You will lead enclosure design, thermal management, and mechanical interfaces, ensuring safety, reliability, and manufacturability.

You will drive DFx concepts, support design transfers, and coordinate with global teams while meeting UL/IEC/NEMA standards and customer requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 10+ years mechanical engineering experience, including 5+ years in LV switchgear/power distribution.
• Demonstrated technical leadership on NPI from concept to production release.
• Strong CAD proficiency in 3D CAD platforms (Creo/SolidWorks/Inventor).

Responsibilities

• Own the mechanical design and architecture of LV switchgear and power distribution equipment.
• Translate customer requirements into engineering specs and deliverables.
• Lead enclosure, busbar, insulation interfaces, and related mechanical assemblies.
• Guide enclosure architecture, layout, accessibility, and serviceability concepts.
• Lead thermal engineering, airflow design, CFD, and thermal validation.
