Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience preferred
• Knowledge of all aspects of an LTL service center preferred
• Must have good computer skills (AS/400 & MS Office a plus)
• Strong leadership skills including hiring, coaching, counseling, training, mentoring and terminating employees
• Customer service focus
• Some travel required
• Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills
• Excellent planning and organization skills
• Knowledge of hazardous materials preferred
• Willingness to work 50 hours per week on average
• Ability to work all shifts including nights/weekends and various weather conditions
• Must be able to lift ~20 lbs
• Must comply with company policies
• Ability to interact well with others
• Ability to work independently or in a team
• Able to work under tight deadlines in high volume with multiple priorities
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedures with high concentration

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct employees to set goals, monitor performance, coach, counsel and develop
• Manage efficient, safe LTL operation including dock planning and scheduling
• Oversee hiring, training and terminations with proper follow-up
• Administer portions of Service Center Business plan
• Manage operations in the absence of managers
• Ensure compliance with policies, safety rules and regulations
• Meet all KPIs
• Ensure timely pickup/delivery and verify freight for billing
• Observe loading for proper handling and distribution of freight
• Enforce safety measures for safe operation of trucks
• Oversee service center to minimize costs and satisfy customers
• Investigate customer complaints and recommend solutions
• Coordinate drivers and assign trucks/routes
• Record transport information (departure, delivery)
• Conduct safety interviews and trainings
• Attend regularly and perform other duties as assigned
