Job summary

Swiss Re is seeking a sharp, curious underwriter for U.S. Life and Health. You will apply evidence-based risk selection across varied cases and collaborate with clients and cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional service.

Strong analytical, communication skills and familiarity with AI-enabled tools are essential. You will contribute to continuous learning, promote the Life Guide, and engage in seminars and webinars to strengthen client relationships.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Life & Health underwriting experience on the insurance or reinsurance side.
• Familiarity with AI-enabled underwriting tools and digital resources.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Apply disciplined, evidence-based risk selection across medical, non-medical, financial, product, market, and governance considerations, meeting service standards and production goals.
• Escalate complex or unusual matters and apply Swiss Re guidelines in a commercially sound way.
• Partner with clients and internal cross-functional teams to provide underwriting expertise for projects via phone and email.
• Promote Life Guide and stay current on updates and guidance.
• Participate in annual client underwriting seminars, webinars, and thought leadership discussions.
• Support a culture of continuous learning by attending internal training programs and meetings.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of core insurance products, legislation, taxation, risk selection principles, underwriting tools, and AI-enabled capabilities.
• Travel as needed (10% or less) for internal meetings and industry events.
