Job summary

Swiss Re seeks a sharp Life & Health underwriter to apply evidence-based risk selection, deliver client-focused service, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. The role involves supporting a broad range of cases and staying current with underwriting guidance and regulatory changes.

You will work in a hybrid model across US offices, travel up to 10%, and contribute to continuous learning while expanding expertise in product, governance, and AI-enabled tools.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Life & Health underwriting experience with proven risk selection and case management.
• Active pursuit of FLMI or FALU designation or progress toward earning one.
• Familiarity with AI-enabled underwriting tools and digital resources.

Responsibilities

• Apply evidence-based risk selection across medical, non-medical, financial, product, market, and governance considerations.
• Escalate complex matters and apply guidelines in a commercially sound way.
• Provide underwriting expertise for client projects via phone and email within service standards.
• Promote Life Guide underwriting manual and stay current with updates.
• Engage in client seminars, webinars, and thought leadership to strengthen relationships.
• Participate in internal training programs and knowledge sharing.
• Maintain knowledge of core insurance products, legislation, taxation, and underwriting tools.
• Travel as needed (≤10%) for meetings and conferences.
