Job summary

Swiss Re is seeking a sharp, curious Life & Health underwriter for the US market, with the ability to handle complex risk decisions and client partnerships. Qualifications

• 5+ years of Life & Health underwriting experience on the insurance or reinsurance side.
• FLMI and/or FALU designation, or active progress toward earning one.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills for complex risk factors.
• Familiarity with AI-enabled underwriting tools and digital resources.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Apply disciplined, evidence-based risk selection across medical, non-medical, financial, product, market, and governance considerations.
• Escalate complex matters and apply guidelines in a sound, commercially based way.
• Partner with clients and internal teams to provide underwriting expertise.
• Promote Life Guide and stay updated on guidance.
• Participate in client seminars, webinars, and thought leadership to strengthen relationships.
• Support continuous learning through training and forums.
• Maintain knowledge of core products, legislation, taxation, and underwriting tools.
• Travel up to 10% for internal meetings and client engagements.
