Job summary

Swiss Re is seeking a sharp, curious L&H underwriter to join our U.S. Life and Health team. You will apply evidence-based risk selection across medical, financial, and non-medical factors, partnering with clients and cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional service in a hybrid work setting.

You will bring 5+ years of Life & Health underwriting experience, FLMI/FALU, strong analytical and communication skills, and a passion for continuous learning. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Life & Health underwriting experience with proficiency in risk selection and case management.
• FLMI and/or FALU designation, or active progress toward earning one.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking for assessing medical, financial, and non-medical risk factors.
• Familiarity with AI-enabled underwriting tools and digital resources.
• Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills with clients and stakeholders.
• Time management and organizational skills to balance high-volume workload.

Responsibilities

• Apply disciplined, evidence-based risk selection across medical, non-medical, financial, product, and governance considerations.
• Escalate complex or unusual matters and apply guidelines in a commercially sound way.
• Partner with clients and internal cross-functional teams to provide underwriting expertise by phone and email.
• Promote Life Guide and stay current on updates to help clients apply guidance effectively.
• Participate in annual client underwriting seminars, webinars, thought leadership discussions, and social media engagement.
• Support a culture of continuous learning by attending internal training programs and meetings.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of core insurance products, legislation, taxation, underwriting tools, and AI-enabled capabilities.
