Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a Lead Design Engineer to direct structural engineering projects for nuclear facilities. You will guide a team of engineers, interface with clients, and mentor staff on design and analysis tasks across steel, concrete, and foundations.

The role emphasizes leadership, collaboration with other disciplines, and travel to client sites for reviews and field verification, with a focus on safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• BSCE with emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 12+ years of experience in design and analysis of industrial/heavy commercial or nuclear facility structures.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS.
• Proficiency with design codes and standards such as ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• PE or SE license.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of structural engineers on engineering projects for nuclear facilities.
• Interface with engineers from other disciplines and with clients.
• Prepare, review, and guide design calculations, specifications, and drawings development.
• Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and field verification.
