Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a lead design engineer in the Nuclear Power Group to guide a team of structural engineers on projects for nuclear facilities and upgrades. The role combines hands-on design leadership with client interaction, and occasional site travel.

You will apply expertise in materials, structural analysis, steel and concrete design, and collaborate across disciplines to deliver safe, compliant structures.

Qualifications

• BSCE with emphasis in Structural Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Twenty+ years of experience in design/analysis of industrial/heavy commercial or nuclear facility structures.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software: STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS.
• Proficiency with design codes: ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• PE or SE license.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a structural engineering team on nuclear facility projects.
• Interface with engineers from other disciplines and with clients.
• Prepare, review, and provide guidance for design calculations, develop specifications, and coordinate drawing development.
• Oversee structural analysis and design of steel frames, concrete members, and foundations.
• Travel occasionally to client/vendor offices and plant sites for design reviews and field coordination.
