Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Lead Design Engineer in the United States to guide a team of structural engineers on nuclear facility projects and upgrades. You will interface with clients, managers, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver robust structural designs.

The role emphasizes leadership, advanced analysis, and compliance with ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI standards, with opportunities for travel to site and client offices.

Qualifications

• BSCE with emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 10+ years of experience on design/analysis of industrial/heavy commercial or nuclear facility structures.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS.
• Proficiency with ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI design codes.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of structural engineers on engineering projects for nuclear facilities and upgrades.
• Prepare, review, and provide guidance for design calculations, develop specifications, and work with designers for drawing development.
• Review or guide the structural analysis and design of steel frames, concrete members, and foundations.
• Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and plant site coordination as needed.
