Job summary

ASM Research, An Accenture Federal Services Company, is seeking an IT Configuration Manager to direct configuration management practices across enterprise IT environments in a federal setting. You will ensure accurate recording of configuration items and maintain the CMDB and related repositories throughout the service lifecycle.

The role collaborates with infrastructure, application, and security teams to prevent drift, enable impact analysis, and improve service restoration time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in IT or related field.
• At least 8 years of configuration management or CMDB experience.
• Hands-on experience with CM tools such as ServiceNow or BMC Remedy.
• Ability to lead configuration initiatives and manage competing priorities; strong communication skills.
• US citizenship and ability to obtain a SECRET clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain the configuration management system and CMDB data model.
• Establish and enforce CM policies, procedures, and naming conventions per ITIL and enterprise standards.
• Integrate CM data with change, incident, and problem workflows for accurate impact analysis.
• Conduct configuration audits, reconciliations, and remediation with owning teams.
• Collaborate with platform admins to implement CMDB capabilities in ServiceNow (discovery, service mapping, data normalization).
• Produce configuration reports and visualizations for capacity planning and risk assessments.
• Coordinate with ITIL processes to keep data accurate across the lifecycle.
• Lead or contribute to CMDB initiatives across hybrid on-prem and cloud environments.
