Qualifications

• A qualified lawyer with approximately 6–12 years of post‑qualified experience in intellectual property enforcement, gained in‑house and/or in private practice.
• Strong knowledge and practical experience of U.S. copyright law and the DMCA, including online enforcement, notice and takedown processes, counternotices, safe harbors, fair use, and intermediary liability.
• Experience developing and executing IP enforcement strategies, ideally involving online enforcement, investigations, anti‑counterfeiting, and escalation to litigation or law enforcement.
• Experience with, or strong interest in, digital piracy and technically complex copyright matters related to video games, software, apps, game modifications, and circumvention measures.
• Strong legal judgment and pragmatic enforcement, prioritizing high‑impact matters while balancing risk, objectives, and commercial considerations.
• Ability to work with technical, investigative, and business teams and translate complex information into practical legal strategies.

Responsibilities

• Lead legal counsel for SIE’s Game Protection Program in the Americas, addressing piracy, pre‑release leaks, and unauthorized game modifications.
• Partner with PlayStation Studios and release teams to identify content‑protection risks across the development and release lifecycle.
• Provide strategic copyright advice on DMCA procedures, notices, takedowns, counternotices, safe harbors, and fair use.
• Advise on complex copyright issues involving game modifications, emulators, circumvention, and unauthorized distribution; develop scalable enforcement policies.
• Collaborate with investigators, security, data, and outside counsel to translate legal/technical intel into enforcement action.
• Support the IP enforcement needs of SIE’s hardware and merchandise businesses in the Americas; shape regional enforcement strategy.
