Job summary

Dow Inc. is seeking a Senior IP Counsel in its Commercial & Innovation Law group, based in Lake Jackson, TX or Midland, MI.

The role focuses on intellectual property in Dow’s Packaging & Specialty Plastics business, providing practical legal counsel and strategy across patents, licensing, and related transactions. You will collaborate with business, technology and research teams to identify IP risks and opportunities, manage portfolios, and mentor staff.

Qualifications

• Required Juris Doctor or Master of Laws and bar admission or eligible.
• 4+ years practicing intellectual property law, in-house or at a major firm.
• US work eligibility; USPTO registration preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide business‑oriented IP counsel on patents, trade secrets, licenses, and technology development.
• Draft, review, and negotiate IP-related agreements and arrangements.
• Develop IP strategies aligned with Dow’s business objectives and growth.
• Build and manage patent portfolios; coordinate with outside counsel as needed.
• Deliver internal training on IP topics and risk mitigation practices.
