Job summary

Dow Inc. seeks a Senior IP Counsel in its Commercial & Innovation Law group, based in Lake Jackson, TX or Midland, MI. You will provide counsel on Intellectual Property topics with emphasis on Dow’s Packaging & Specialty Plastics business.

You will strategize, draft, and negotiate IP agreements, build patent portfolios, and mentor junior staff in a global, science-driven environment. Relocation assistance is available; US work authorization is required.

Qualifications

• JD or LLM required, plus 4+ years in Intellectual Property law (in-house or at a major firm).
• Bar admission in good standing or eligible for admission in the US.
• Undergraduate degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or related tech.
• Professional registration to practice before the USPTO.
• US work authorization required; no visa sponsorship available.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical, business-focused IP counsel on patents, trade secrets, licensing and IP transactions.
• Review and draft technology development, collaboration, confidentiality and license agreements.
• Develop IP strategies aligned with business objectives and manage patent portfolios.
• Prosecute patent applications and manage relationships with outside counsel.
• Educate clients on IP risks and mitigations; collaborate with cross-functional teams.
