Job summary

Kin Insurance seeks an Insurance Counsel - Forms to lead drafting for state and product expansions, anchoring personal auto or property forms. You will translate statutes into filing-ready policy language, advise on coverage interpretation, and review forms for regulatory compliance across multiple states.

You will draft complete state and product forms packages, serve as a backup for the other line, and mentor teams on drafting standards and regulatory expectations.

Qualifications

• JD required with 5+ years of policy form drafting experience.
• Experience drafting personal lines policy forms for multiple states.
• Ability to read state insurance statutes and regulations and translate them into policy language.
• Experience drafting responses to regulator objections on form filings.
• Ability to advise internal partners on coverage interpretation and policy wording.
• Proven track record delivering complete forms packages independently.
• Experience serving as a backup drafter across lines.

Responsibilities

• Research state statutes and Regulations and translate them into compliant policy wording.
• Draft responses to Department of Insurance objections on forms and advocate Kin's position with regulators.
• Provide legal advice on coverage interpretation and form wording to internal partners.
• Draft complete new state and product forms packages for your line of business, ready for filing.
• Perform first-pass legal review of forms and escalate novel state law questions.
• Build and maintain base forms and reusable state kits for your line of business.
• Establish drafting standards and reusable language for faster state packages.
• Design and deliver internal training on policy forms and regulatory expectations.
• Serve as backup drafter for the other line of business.
• Identify legal risks in proposed product designs before drafting.
• Review AI-assisted drafts for accuracy and establish guardrails for AI use.
• Maintain and update forms packages in response to statutes, regs, bulletins, and product changes.
