Job summary

Kin Insurance is seeking an Insurance Counsel - Forms to translate aggressive state and product expansion into filing-ready policy language. Kin is a remote-first company expanding into new states and products; you will anchor one line (personal auto or property) and back up the other, reporting to Senior Insurance Counsel.

You’ll draft base policies, endorsements, notices, and state kits, provide regulatory and coverage guidance to internal partners, and review AI drafts for accuracy.

Qualifications

• JD required with 5+ years of policy form drafting experience.
• Experience drafting personal auto or property forms for multiple states.
• Ability translate state statutes into clear policy language.
• Ability respond to regulator objections and defend form wording.
• Provide coverage interpretation and legal guidance to internal partners.

Responsibilities

• Research state statutes and translate them into compliant policy wording.
• Draft responses to Department of Insurance objections and advocate Kin's position with regulators.
• Advise internal partners on coverage interpretation and policy wording.
• Draft complete state and product forms packages for your line of business.
• Perform first-pass legal review and escalate novel state law questions.
• Build and maintain base forms and state kits for your line of business.
• Establish drafting standards and reusable language.
• Deliver internal training on Kin's policy forms and regulatory expectations.
• Serve as backup drafter for the other line of business.
• Identify legal risks in proposed product designs or coverage changes.
• Review AI-assisted drafts for legal accuracy and regulatory compliance.
• Maintain and update forms packages in response to new statutes and DOI bulletins.
