Job summary

Advocate Health in Indiana seeks an experienced inpatient coder to join the Enterprise Revenue Cycle team. You will review complex inpatient records and assign ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes in a compliant, efficient workflow.

The role requires AHIMA or AAPC certification, an associate degree in health information management, and 7 years of inpatient coding experience in an acute care setting. It offers full-time hours, a 40-hour week, and a remote option for eligible states.

Qualifications

• Advanced proficiency of ICD, CPT and HCPCS coding guidelines.
• Advanced knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
• Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office and email.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organization, prioritization, and reading comprehension.
• Excellent analytical skills with high attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to take initiative and work collaboratively with others.

Responsibilities

• Review complex inpatient documentation to assign accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT and HCPCS codes.
• Adhere to official coding guidelines and regulations for compliance and reimbursement.
• Code high-dollar and long-stay inpatient cases.
• Clarify documentation gaps with clinical teams as needed.
• Serve as a coding subject matter expert to leaders and peers.
• Maintain ongoing professional education and coding guideline updates.
• Ensure confidentiality and report non-compliant practices.
• Collaborate with CDI and Quality teams to align DRGs.
