Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking an experienced inpatient coder to perform complex coding using ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS. The role requires AHIMA or AAPC certification and an associate degree in health information management.

The position offers full-time hours with a standard 8-hour day, 40 hours per week. A remote-work option may be approved for eligible states, and you will navigate coding workflows for inpatient services and high-dollar cases.

Qualifications

• Advanced proficiency in ICD, CPT and HCPCS coding guidelines.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
• Experience with EMR and coding software a must.

Responsibilities

• Review complex inpatient documentation to assign diagnosis and procedure codes per guidelines.
• Code high dollar and long length of stay cases accurately for reimbursement.
• Follow policies, participate in payer audits, and support CDI initiatives.
• Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure accurate DRG matching.
• Maintain confidentiality and meet productivity/quality targets.
