Job summary

Advocate Health seeks an experienced inpatient coder to join the 10407 Enterprise Revenue Cycle - Coding Production Operations. The role covers inpatient community and academic coding across cardiology, neurology, and oncology, with a full-time schedule (Mon-Fri, 40 hours) in Charlotte, NC.

Strong ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT/HCPCS knowledge, and CDI collaboration are essential. The coder will adhere to coding guidelines, support DNFB reduction, and maintain high-quality, compliant documentation.

Qualifications

• Inpatient coding experience in acute care setting.
• AHIMA or AAPC certification required.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT and HCPCS guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Reviews complex inpatient documentation to assign diagnosis and procedures using ICD-10 CM/PCS, CPT and HCPCS.
• Ensure correct code selection per Official Coding Guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain productivity and quality standards; participate in payer audits as needed.
• Collaborate with CDI and Quality teams to reconcile DRGs and Medicare cases.
• Communicate with clinicians regarding coding-related documentation.
