Job summary

Essentia Health is seeking a hospital inpatient coder to review clinical documentation and assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes and DRGs for complex inpatient accounts. You will work with Clinical Documentation Integrity and clinicians to ensure complete documentation and accurate reimbursement.

The role offers a remote option with day shift hours (8:00 AM–4:30 PM) and requires two years of inpatient coding experience, with AHIMA/AAPC credentials preferred.

Qualifications

• Two years inpatient hospital coding experience.
• ICD-10-CM/PCS knowledge and DRG assignment.
• Ability to maintain coding quality (≥95% accuracy) and productivity.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates health record documentation and ensures accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS coding.
• Initiates coding queries and provides feedback to clinicians.
• Reviews LCD/NCD policies supporting medical necessity.
• Supports DRG denial prevention through education and collaboration.
• Ensures timely, accurate inpatient accounts coding.
