Job summary

CHRISTUS Health is seeking an experienced inpatient coder to maintain ICD-10-CM/PCS coding accuracy for hospital encounters. The role involves reviewing clinical documentation, extracting essential data, and coding in Epic, Meditech, and other systems to support accurate billing and reduce denials.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of AHIMA approved coding program preferred.
• 3-5 years inpatient coding experience in acute care setting preferred.
• RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CCA certifications required or at least one of them.

Responsibilities

• Assign codes for diagnoses, treatments and procedures per official guidelines.
• Abstract data into CHRISTUS Health EMR systems.
• Validate admit orders and discharge dispositions.
• Work from coding queue and manage accounts.
• Maintain accuracy rate of 95% or higher.
