Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking an experienced Inpatient DRG Coder to join the remote coding team. You will assign ICD-10-CM/PCS and DRG codes for facility services, adhering to official coding guidelines and client standards.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of inpatient DRG coding in acute care, AHIMA or AAPC certification, and strong proficiency with Excel and EMR systems. Remote work within the U.S. is available with potential overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certified coder with AHIMA and/or AAPC credentials (CCA, CCS, RHIA, RHIT, CPC-H/COC, CIC, CCS-P, CPC) to be maintained annually.
• 3+ years of inpatient DRG coding experience in an acute care facility.
• 3+ years of ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS and DRG coding experience using an encoder.
• Proficiency with Windows PC environment and Excel; familiarity with EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Determine appropriate ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS/DRG assignments and abstraction per coding guidelines.
• Demonstrate expert knowledge in Inpatient DRG Coding.
• Review charts to abstract data elements as needed.
• Maintain coding quality and productivity per department standards.
• Query physicians when appropriate and stay updated on coding guidelines.
