Job summary

Advocate Health is hiring for an inpatient coding professional in a remote-eligible role. You will code inpatient encounters using ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS, adhering to official guidelines and regulatory requirements.

The position supports complex cases across service lines including cardiology, neurology and oncology. The role requires an associate degree in HIM, AHIMA/AAPC certification, and about seven years of inpatient coding experience in acute care.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in HIM or related field.
• 7 years inpatient coding experience in acute care.
• Certification in coding (AAPC or AHIMA) required.

Responsibilities

• Review complex inpatient documentation to assign ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
• Ensure code accuracy per Official Coding Guidelines and regulations.
• Work with CDI and Quality teams to align DRG and Medicare cases.
• Maintain high productivity and quality standards (DNFB focus).
• Participate in payer audits and clinical documentation improvement activities.
