Job summary

AbbVie in the United States seeks a senior leader to head Publications Teams, overseeing publication plans for assigned assets and ensuring scientific communications meet strategic objectives. You’ll align resources, manage talent, and supervise writers and vendors to deliver high-quality manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and presentations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; PhD, PharmD or Master’s preferred; CMPP/AMWA is a plus.
• 4–5 years in medical/scientific publications; pharma industry or medical communications agency experience.
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities and ability to interpret medical data.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional Publications Team(s) for assigned assets; drive publication plan execution with input from global stakeholders.
• Direct tactical execution of publication plans (clinical manuscripts, abstracts, posters, oral presentations) within timelines and budgets.
• Review publications in assigned therapeutic area for quality and alignment with platforms and communications.
• Partner with Directors to align publication strategy and manage outsourcing budgets and resources.
• Provide guidance to internal/external writers; ensure high-quality outputs and adherence to policies.
• Oversee external vendors to complete publication projects on time and to standard.
• Address publications-related issues and maintain accurate publication records and resourcing data.
