Job summary

AbbVie seeks a senior Publications leader to drive multi-asset publication plans and coordinate cross-functional teams. You will oversee publications from manuscripts to abstracts, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and timelines.

You will manage internal and external writers, coordinate budgeting, and partner with directors to optimize resources and outsourcing. A strong leadership track record and clinical publications experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; PhD/PharmD/Master’s preferred; relevant certification (e.g., CMPP, AMWA) a plus.
• 4–5 years of medical/scientific publications experience in pharma or medical communications.
• Strong leadership abilities and excellent written/verbal communication.
• Ability to manage cross-functional teams and budgets.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and internet tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional Publications Teams for assigned assets and drive publication plan execution.
• Oversee tactical publication activities: manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and oral presentations.
• Ensure quality and alignment with strategic platforms and policies.
• Collaborate with Directors to align resources, budgets, and outsourcing.
• Provide mentorship to internal/external writers and manage vendor relationships.
• Maintain publication records and address issues for assigned therapeutic areas.
