Job summary

AbbVie Inc. is seeking a senior leader to head Publications Teams, directing execution of publication plans for assigned assets.

You will ensure alignment with strategic goals, manage resources, and supervise medical writers and external partners to deliver high-quality clinical manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and presentations. You will partner with senior leaders to align publication strategies with therapeutic area plans, oversee budgets, and drive excellence in scientific communications

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred (PhD/PharmD/Master’s).
• 4–5 years of medical/scientific publications experience in pharma or medical communications.
• Demonstrated leadership ability and cross-functional collaboration.
• Ability to interpret medical data and communicate findings effectively.
• Knowledge of publication structures and regulatory best practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to present to senior audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional Publications Team(s) for assigned assets and drive publication plan execution.
• Oversee tactical publication activities: manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and oral presentations.
• Ensure quality and alignment of publications with strategic platforms and communications.
• Partner with Directors to manage outsourcing budgets and internal resources.
• Provide direction to medical writers and external vendors to ensure timely, high-quality outputs.
• Address and resolve publications-related issues across therapeutic areas and assets.
