Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a Lead Publications role to steer publication plans across assets and coordinate with global stakeholders. You will lead cross-functional teams, oversee manuscripts, abstracts, posters and presentations, and ensure alignment with scientific communication platforms.

You will manage resources and outsourcing, mentor staff, and maintain publication records to support strategic goals while delivering high-quality scientific communications for therapy areas of focus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degrees or certifications preferred.
• 4–5 years of medical/publications experience in pharma or related field.
• Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Knowledge of clinical/publication processes and regulatory expectations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to present to senior audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional Publications Team(s) for assigned assets, driving publication plan execution.
• Oversee tactical publication activities: manuscripts, abstracts, posters, presentations.
• Align publication plans with strategic goals and stakeholder inputs.
• Manage resources, budgets, and outsourcing needs for publications.
• Provide mentorship and performance management for staff; address issues proactively.
• Coordinate with external vendors to ensure timely, high-quality deliverables.
• Maintain accurate publication records and relieve bottlenecks in the process.
