Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior II Site Reliability Engineer - Network to design, build and operate reliable network infrastructure that powers Akamai Connected Cloud. You will collaborate with software, operations and network teams to define standards and tooling, and drive high availability across global platforms.

You will mentor peers, define SLOs, develop automation pipelines, and contribute to code reviews while advancing architecture decisions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in a Site or Network Reliability Engineering, Network Engineering, Software Engineering, or DevOps role with large-scale distributed systems.
• Advanced proficiency with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Salt Stack, Chef, Puppet, or similar.
• Experience with Linux networking at the userspace level and open source networking software such as FRR, Bird, or goBGP.
• Understanding of networking such as TCP/IP, OSI model, and Cisco or Juniper routers and switches.
• Experience developing applications, contributing to codebases, conducting code review, and writing scripts using Python, Bash, or Go.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Github Actions, ArgoCD, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Partner across teams to ensure reliability, scalability and usability of network infrastructure, products and services.
• Define requirements as part of the product lifecycle to influence new designs and standards.
• Develop automation pipelines to support development, testing, and deployment workflows.
• Define SLOs for network infrastructure to ensure high availability and performance.
• Collaborate with Dev and QA to create robust solutions and improve code quality.
• Mentor team members, drive code quality standards and guide architectural decisions.
