Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a seasoned HVAC engineer in Chicago to design and optimize complex HVAC systems for commercial, laboratories and industrial facilities. The role emphasizes hybrid work with in-office collaboration and cross-disciplinary project support.

The candidate will develop detailed design packages, perform calculations, write specifications, and coordinate with other engineers and clients while adhering to ASHRAE standards and relevant codes.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering from ABET-accredited program
• 10+ years HVAC design experience for commercial, laboratories and industrial facilities
• Proficiency in TRACE 700 or 3D+; AutoCAD and Microstation; ability to create P&IDs
• Knowledge of relevant HVAC codes and standards
• Prepare HVAC studies
• Plan, schedule, conduct, or coordinate detailed design phases of facility engineering work

Responsibilities

• Design HVAC systems for commercial, industrial and lab facilities
• Develop integrated HVAC systems including ventilation, control rooms, chilled water and heating designs
• Prepare technical specifications for HVAC equipment
• Support engineers, project managers, clients and suppliers to ensure timely design
• Assist senior engineers with reviews of existing facilities and client presentations
• Familiarity with ASHRAE and current HVAC industry codes and standards
