Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an HVAC Engineer in Chicago for a hybrid role (3 days in the office, 2 remote). You will design HVAC systems for lab and industrial facilities, perform calculations, and prepare specifications while collaborating with engineers, PMs, and clients.

Responsibilities include developing integrated ventilation and heating systems, reviewing facilities for upgrades, and ensuring compliance with ASHRAE standards. This role supports the Nuclear Power Group and related projects.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• 3+ years of HVAC/ventilation/ heating and chilled water design experience for lab/industrial facilities.
• Proficiency in TRACE 700 or Carrier HAP.
• Ability to create design flow diagrams and P&IDs.
• Knowledge of codes and standards for HVAC/ventilation.

Responsibilities

• Design, investigate, troubleshoot HVAC systems for lab/industrial facilities.
• Develop integrated HVAC systems including ventilation, control rooms, labs, chilled water, heating.
• Provide planning, scheduling, conducting, or coordinating of detailed design phases.
• Perform design calculations and develop detailed system design.
• Prepare technical specifications for HVAC equipment.
• Support engineers, PMs, client personnel, and suppliers.
• Assist senior engineers with reviews of existing facilities and propose upgrades.
• Familiarity with ASHRAE and current HVAC codes and standards.
