Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced HVAC engineer to design and optimize systems for commercial, laboratory, and industrial facilities. You will lead design efforts, perform calculations, and prepare specifications while coordinating with clients and project teams.

The role emphasizes larger-scale HVAC projects with chilled water systems, control room environments, and adherence to ASHRAE standards. A strong emphasis on collaboration and rigorous design review is required.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering from ABET-approved program is required.
• Ten+ years of HVAC system and chilled water design experience for commercial, laboratories and industrial facilities.
• Proficiency in TRACE 700 or 3D+ program, AutoCAD and Microstation; ability to create design flow diagrams and P&IDs.
• Familiarity with relevant HVAC codes and standards and ability to prepare HVAC studies.

Responsibilities

• Design HVAC systems for commercial, laboratory, and industrial facilities.
• Develop integrated HVAC systems including ventilation, control rooms, and laboratories.
• Perform design calculations and develop detailed system design.
• Prepare technical specifications for HVAC equipment and engineering studies.
• Support other engineers, project managers, clients, and suppliers to ensure timely design.
• Assist in reviews of existing facilities for upgrades and provide recommendations.
• Lead with awareness of ASHRAE standards and current codes.
