ABB Inc. seeks a Senior Technical Business Developer to lead customer engagement for 72.5-145 kV Dead Tank Circuit Breakers, bridging product management and sales in a hybrid role. You’ll drive market strategy, influence technical direction, and shape go-to-market plans with a focus on SF6-free solutions.

Remote position across the US with preference for Cary, NC or Houston, TX, travel up to 30% as needed, and collaboration with global teams to ensure IEEE/ANSI compliance and customer success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or other Engineering field required.
• 10+ years of experience in high voltage equipment, preferably with circuit breakers or other key substation components.
• Deep understanding of sub-transmission applications and utility processes in the US.
• Proven experience in technical sales, product management, or business development.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with vacuum interrupter technology and SF6-free solutions/regulation.
• Familiarity with IEEE/ANSI standards for high-voltage products.
• Ability to travel up to 30% - domestic and international - may be required.

Responsibilities

• Market strategy & growth - Drive U.S. subtransmission market expansion by developing new utility/EPC/OEM opportunities, shaping gotomarket plans, and securing product homologation.
• Technical leadership - Act as the primary technical interface, leading configuration discussions, advanced feature evaluations, and presales solution design.
• Standards & industry influence - Ensure IEEE/ANSI compliance, represent the company in industry bodies, and help shape evolving technical specifications.
• Partnerships & product innovation - Build strategic ecosystem relationships while channeling customer insights to guide product evolution, digital integration, and sustainable SF6free technology adoption.
