Job summary

Hanson Professional Services Inc. in Orlando seeks an Electrical Engineer specializing in medium- and high-voltage power system design for renewable energy projects. PE licensure is required or obtainable within six months.

You will design 15 kV–200 kV systems, perform reliability studies, collaborate with civil and structural teams, and support field personnel. Travel is occasional; extended hours may be needed.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS and/or PLS-CADD.
• Experience using power analysis software such as EasyPower, ETAP, or SKM Power Tools.
• Familiarity with voltage drop, fault current, and arc flash analysis tools.
• Knowledge of CDGES software; GIS and Synergi is a plus.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to engineers, clients, and stakeholders.
• Strong time management and attention to detail; capable of meeting deadlines.
• Strong relationship-building skills; able to work independently and in teams.
• Ability to meet pre-employment requirements (background checks, drug screening, MVR as applicable).

Responsibilities

• Design medium- and high-voltage power distribution and management systems for renewable energy projects.
• Prepare specifications, calculations, drawings, and full construction packages for complex electrical systems up to 200kV.
• Conduct QA/QC reviews to ensure compliance with standards.
• Provide technical support to field personnel for HV collection systems and substations.
• Perform electrical studies including short-circuit, arc flash, load flow, and relay coordination.
• Troubleshoot electrical equipment issues within renewable facilities.
• Collaborate with civil/structural teams and coordinate with colleagues across offices.
• Conduct due diligence, feasibility, conceptual design studies, and inverter-based resource interconnection studies; prepare utility master plan reports.
• Participate in project management tasks: client meetings, system design coordination, shop drawings, construction administration.
• Mentor engineering and design personnel.
• Travel occasionally for client meetings and field reviews; extend hours as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by market principals and project managers.
